Indications

Pharmacology

Cream: Each of the ingredients within the combination shows distinct function in reduction of pain. One of the ingredients is camphor which shows spasmolytic action on smooth muscle. It causes the reduction of Ca²⁺ influx in the smooth muscles and thus reduces the contraction of muscles.This results in decreased muscles spasm.Another action of camphor is to reduce the pain by increasing the threshold level.Pain stimuli are not enough to be transmitted to brain because of increased threshold level. Menthol exerts cooling and soothing effect by stimulating the cold receptor and thus causes reduction of pain. Methyl Salicylate is converted to salicylic acid and causes the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzyme. As a result prostaglandin synthesis is being inhibited and that ultimately results in reduction of pain. Menthol exerts cooling and soothing effect by stimulating the cold receptor and thus causes reduction of pain.

Nasal Inhaler Stick: Menthol is a decongestant that helps to unblock a congested nose and also reduce irritation in the mouth and throat. Camphor is another decongestant that can also work as a cough suppressant. Wintergreen Oil helps to remove germs from infected areas and relieve the illness.

Dosage Information

Cream:
Adults and Children 2 years of age and older: Apply generously to the painful area and gently massage until the cream disappears. Apply to affected area not more than 3 to 4 times daily.If condition worsens,or if symptoms persist for more than 7 days or clear-up and occur again within a few days,discontinue use of this product and consult a doctor.

Children below 2 years of age: Sufficient data is not available for use of this product in children below 2 years of age.

Nasal Inhaler Stick:
Adults and children over 12 years: Used by inserting the inhaler into each nostril, holding the other nostril closed and inhaling deeply. It can be used as frequently as needed.

Side Effects

Cream: Contraindicated in patients with bleeding disorders,allergy to Salicylate or sensitivity to any of the components. Application to broken skin or raw surfaces is not recommended.

Nasal Inhaler Stick: Temporary burning, stinging, dryness in the nose, sneezing may occur.

Precautions

For external use only. Use only as directed.Do not use with a heating pad.Keep away from children to avoid accidental poisoning. Do not use tight bandage. Do not swallow. If swallowed,induce vomiting and call a physician. Keep away from eyes,mucous membranes, broken or irritated skin.If skin redness or irritation develops, pain lasts for more than 10 days, or with arthritis-like conditions in children under 12, do not use and call a physician. Long term and excess administration may cause skin irritation and redness. So the cream should be administered according to recommended dose.Therapy might be hazardous for patients with impaired kidney or liver function or for smaller children.
